I found this post, A Poker Computer Program That Bluffs on the Roland Piquepaille’s Technology Trends site, reporting a program named Poki that play poker. I have been playing poker, monthly, for nearly a year and after seeing the article, I was immediately drawn in. The program is written in AI and it has learned how to bluff. The creators believe that it will be the number one poker player within a year.
Poki is implemented in Java, and some of the source code has been released. To facilitate other research into poker, we have also provided a Texas Hold’em communication protocol, which allows new computer programs and humans to play against each other online.
If you are so inclined, you can play Poki to sharpen your own skills. What better way to learn poker than with a “soon to be world best” poker player.
