What do you think of when you hear CRM? Do you know what CRM is? Well, funny enough, my job title is CRM Web Developer. To some of you non-geeks out there, this sounds really corporate and boring. Of course, to the geeks out there (To you geeks…I use the term geeks in the most non-offensive manner), you are wondering what exactly I do in the CRM field. Well, I’ll tell you that I am not here to talk about me, mainly because my job is really hush hush. I’m here to talk about others out there that are pushing CRM into undiscovered territories. I’m talking about Closer Communications.
To me, this is funny…I’m doing my normal thing, surfing for a good TECHNICAL story when I come to samablog. I check out his posts…I Wonder If This Will Start An Avalanche,Another Reason I Like Berlusconi, and on and on. I say to myself…”Wait a tick!” I spy the links to the right of the blog. “Closer Communications”, what’s this?
Closer Communications designs wireless customer relationship management systems for the tradeshow and exposition industry. Closer customizes these systems to the needs of show management, exhibitors, and show attendees. Our systems combine off-the-shelf and proprietary technologies, including customized software and hardware. The Closer systems enhance and add value to the tradeshow experience by more accurately aligning customer needs with exhibitors. With our system:
- Exhibitors can determine if a trade show lead is a real prospect;
- Show management can provide a better return on investment for its exhibitors by providing an accurate real-time picture of show activity, while eliminating the guess work behind every prospect that visits a booth;
- Attendees can receive information that fits their needs rather than getting information from every booth they step into for a free t-shirt.
Closer brings together real-time wireless and in-person communications in a way that provides new and extraordinary value to attendees and exhibitors. Our systems make the show experience more enjoyable, informative, engaging, and cost-effective.
Closer Communications’ website is progressive as well. Not many business sites have a blogsite that they ardently maintain. I take this as a sign that the company is in touch with NOW! Take a look at their demo of the product.
The company is targeting conventions, tradeshows and/or exhibitions. This is great, but they need to go deeper. Big companies can use this software/hardware idea. My employer is most likely labeled as small, but I don’t know everyone that works there. This software could be incorporated into a who’s who type of gambit. In my company, we all use name badge key cards. If we could capture the card ID of someone we passed in the hallway and look them up when we got to our desk that would be TOO awesome. Big companies would love this. Automatic capture technology would also be helpful so that we can go back through our logs and see who we were in contact with for the day. A cheesy idea… Single’s bar! The same technology and software could possibly be used in this. The user(female) walks into a bar and the male client there have an instant readout of who she is and what she is about. The provided info is approved by said woman. The same type of stats are displayed for this person as would for any client under the system. The guys would be able to tell if the woman is a hit or miss. I think it is worth a try, what say you?
Take a look, this is truly innovative!
