I think the alternate ending was better in some ways but the alternate ending on the disk is not the alternate ending discussed by the directors. So there was the 1st ending (which relied on the duality of the couple), then there was a second ending (which used the gang) and then there was a third ending which actually shipped with the movie. The extra one one the disks (which goes with the deleted scenes is #2). I suspect that the 1st ending (only mentioned in passing) would be the ending preferred by Chow Yun-Fat.

If you enjoy his stuff try getting hold of 'The God of Gamblers' (probably in Chinese - I saw it in Chinese with English sub-titles).

speaking of DVD's, "Pirates of the Carribean" has some new nasty copyright protection that my FOR BACKUP PURPOSES ONLY software couldn't crack. What will I do know if a sudden gigantic magneteic wave passes my house???

I'm not sure if a magnet can destroy your DVDs, so I won't comment on that until I find a source. Magnets will disrupt magnetic media such as video tapes. And if a magnetic force to pass over your house, that was strong enough to do that type of damage, you may have other issues to worry about and probably wouldn't care about the outcome of your tapes.

DVD's are optical, not magnetic.
I always say, if you can read it, you can rip it.
Encrypted stuff always has to be decoded before it can be played, it's just a matter of finding the right step in the process.

CopyRight protected usually just means you can only play it in the player of some brand, so dvd-players would sell beter. Maybe if mpeg21 comes along, dvd's may be copyright protected, but until then it's all a bunch of crap
